Vehicle Market

a used car market with real depreciation, player listings and dealer buyback

Owned cars lose value with age, mileage and damage. Players sell them to each other at prices the market keeps honest, and the dealer buys any car back, so a car is never worthless.

Vehicle Market interface

Vehicle Market gives cars a second life. On most servers a car bought a month ago is worth exactly what it cost, and car sales between players happen in chat with a trade window and a lot of trust.

Every owned car has a value. It starts at the new price from your vehicle shop and drops with age, with the kilometres it has driven and with engine and body damage. Mileage is measured on the server from where each driver's car moves, with teleports and respawns left out. Also, each class can lose value at its own pace, and a floor keeps every car worth something.

Players list a garaged car at a price inside a range around its value, so nobody moves money through a $1 or a $10,000,000 sale. Buyers browse by class, price and mileage.

The handover is built to hold up. The server reads the listing from the database, the listing goes to exactly one buyer, the car has to still belong to the seller and sit in a garage (not out on the street), the owner changes in one guarded update, and the seller is paid only after that worked. Anything that fails along the way refunds the buyer. Sellers who are offline get paid when they come back, and a restart in the middle of a sale finishes it on the next start.

The dealer buys any garaged car for a share of its value, with a daily limit and a hold on cars just bought on the market. Staff get an admin view with sales volume, the average price against value and a list of flagged sales (prices far from value, and the same two characters trading over and over).

What it does

  • Depreciation by age, mileage and condition, with class rates and a floor, all in the config
  • Server-side odometer per plate, with teleports and respawns filtered out
  • Player listings with price limits relative to value, a listing fee and expiry
  • Market screen with class, price and mileage filters and a price for value column
  • "What is my car worth" valuation tool that shows what age, mileage and damage took off
  • Dealer buyback with a daily limit
  • Guarded ownership change: one buyer per listing, garaged and not on the street, seller paid after the owner change, refund on any failure
  • Offline payouts and restart recovery
  • Admin view with sales volume, price against value and flagged sales, gated by an ace permission
  • Exports to open the market from a dealer ped or target zone, and to read any car's value
  • ESX Legacy, Qbox and QBCore, detected automatically, and the tables create themselves on start
  • Config, locales, framework bridge and SQL left open for your own edits
